Parliament to decide if Sri Lanka will be ‘unitary’ Featured

The steering committee of the Constitutional Council at a meeting yesterday (25) agreed that parliament will decide if Sri Lanka will be ‘unitary’ under the new constitution.

That is because the TNA continues to demand the removal of ‘unitary’.

However, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dinesh Gunawardena and Patali Champika Gunawardena have strongly opposed that.

Ranawaka explained that the word had a legal meaning.

The UNP members kept silent over the matter.
