The media too, has made a similar request, he said, adding that a reshuffle was wanted after a lapse of two-and-a-half years.
Amaraweera was speaking to the media after the new ministers took their oaths.
When asked if the UPFA had demanded a change in the finance portfolio, he only said there was such a request from the country.
Deputy minister Ajith P. Perera said he was happy with the changes.
Questioned about there being no new faces, he said that although old, they were genuine.
Deputy minister Harsha de Silva declined to comment when the same question was put to him.
Former media minister Gayantha Karunatilake said he would be able to do a better service with his new lands portfolio.
