A political party for the Sinhalese

Sinhale Jathika Sanvidhanaya stresses a badly-felt need to secure political solutions to the problems encountered by the Sinhalese.

Therefore, it has decided to form a political party to represent the community from the level of Pradeshiya Sabha to parliament.

Its activist Saliya V. Ranawaka says Muslims have the SLMC, Tamils have the TNA but the Sinhalese do not have a party of their own to raise a voice over their land ownership and other social problems.

He says the registration of the new party was under preparation, adding that its symbol will be the ‘shield.’
