Customs seize gold worth 50 million!

Customs officers on duty at the airport today (2) seized a consignment of gold worth nearly 50 million rupees, which was brought illegally into the country by a Sri Lankan passenger who arrived onboard a flight from Dubai.

Customs Media Spokesman Director Sudath Silva said that the gold weighing 2098g was in the form of 16 biscuits and four pieces of molten gold.

Silva further said that the stock of gold was seized by the Customs officials and the suspect was fined Rs. 50,000.
