TUs oppose handover of Trinco oil tanks to India Featured

Petroleum trade unions are to resort to indefinite union action to prevent the government from going ahead with its decision to handover oil tanks in Trincomalee to India.

The government has ignored their suggestions to resolve issues in the petroleum sector, and instead decided to give the oil tanks to India, convener of the CPC TU collective D.J. Rajakaruna told Sri Lanka Mirror.

He said a media briefing in this regard would take place at 11.30 am today (19) at N.M. Perera Centre at Cotta Road, Borella.

The JVP too, has said that attempts by prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to sell the Trincomalee oil tanks should be defeated through a collective effort by TUs and political movements.
