Neela’s remains to be brought home on 26th as a closed coffin

The body of veteran singer Neela Wickremasinghe, who passed away while serving as the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Milan, Italy, will be brought to Sri Lanka on Wednesday (26) morning.

She was admitted to San Rafael Hospital in Milan due to a sudden heart attack and died on the 17th morning.

It is said that all the arrangements for the repatriation of the body will be carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the details of her funeral is expected to be announced today (24).

Before Neela Wickremasinghe's body was sent to Sri Lanka, her body was laid to rest at a private funeral parlour in Milan on the 22nd for Sri Lankans living in the country to pay last respects.

 In accordance with her wishes, the coffin was not opened for viewing.
