Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has said that approval has been given to implement daily power cuts from tomorrow (10) onwards.

Accordingly, approval will be granted for power cuts from 1-2 hours, reports say.

Speaking to media, Chairman of the PUCSL - Janaka Ratnayake has said that the approval was granted after the Ceylon Electricity Board had made a request in this regard last Friday.

Meanwhile, today'a (09) issue of the weekend publication 'The Sunday Times' had reported that the CEB has recommended to the Ministry of Power to impose scheduled power cuts for two and half hours daily.

The CEB’s Additional General Manager P.W. Hendahewa has communicated the decision to Power Ministry Secretary Wasantha Perera and urged that it be enforced immediately, the newspaper adds.
