According to high level sources, the girl had gone missing by the time the CID had gone to Horana to investigate the Chinese brothel business, on the directives of the IGP.

However, it is not certain whether the girl was hidden by the Chinese national involved in the racket or for some other reason.

The IGP had earlier ordered an investigation into the incident based on information received about ten such youths.
