Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila stated that the refinery will be closed due to the of  crude oil purchases in the face of the current foreign exchange crisis.

This is the second closure of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery since November 15.

It is reported that a fuel tanker is scheduled to arrive in the country in the last week of this month and after that the operations of the oil refinery recommence.
