Police said 47 individuals were in the bus when the accident took place.

Police said the driver lost control of the bus due to poor visibility as a result of heavy rains in the area.

13 individuals have been admitted to the Maha Oya Hospital while four persons are being treated at the Batticaloa General Hospital.

The driver of the bus has been arrested by the Padiyathalawa Police.
