He says that changing the gas composition could cause a change in pressure, but it would not lead to gas leakages if the cylinders are of proper standard. 

Commenting to the BBC on the accidents that have been reported in many parts of the island these days, Prof. Chinthaka pointed out that it is advisable to check the cylinders for gas leaks and use a proper standard hose and regulator.

Meanwhile, Litro Gas said in a statement that recent incidents and problems have been caused by negligence and the use of substandard regulators, pipes and cookers that are not suitable for LP gas.

However, the government has appointed a committee of experts to find out the exact cause of these unusual incidents.
