Another IMF loan ready; Special delegation to visit SL

It is reported that a special delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from December 7 to 20 to participate in a special round of talks with the Government of Sri Lanka.

However, the Weekend Aruna newspaper reports that they are visiting Sri Lanka despite no official request being made from Sri Lanka to assist in resolving the country's economic crisis.

The newspaper further reported that the IMF has indicated that its representatives will be visiting Sri Lanka to hold consultations in accordance with the agreement reached between the two sides to attend a mandatory round of talks with its fund.

The head of the IMF's mission in Sri Lanka, Masahiro Nozaki, has said that his organization is ready to discuss the request as soon as it is received.
