On the instructions of senior police officials, the on duty police officers did not allow anyone to enter the fort wall opposite the International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Mawbima newspaper reports that a group of people from Anuradhapura and their children had come to visit the Galle Fort but the police had not allowed them to enter the place.
Further, a group of foreign tourists who had come to Sri Lanka to enjoy its scenic beauty were not allowed to go to the Galle Fort.
The report states that the tourists had described the situation as a very unpleasant one.
Meanwhile, a wedding group who had come to the Galle Fort to take photographs were also turned back.
However, a senior official of the Galle Heritage Foundation has told the media that he had not been notified of such a restriction.
