No new assist. leaders for UNP

Although media reports cited that three assistant leaders would be appointed to the UNP at today's (05) meeting of the party Working Committee meeting, no such proposal had been made, reports say.

It is said that the proposal was scrapped because of disagreements rising over this.

Media reports cited that that ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Ranjith Madduma Bandara and Sarath Fonseka were to be appointed as assistant leaders of the party.

According to sources from the UNP headquarters - 'Sirikotha', only the appointments of 130 persons as party organisers for the year 2017 have been approved.
