Bills extending pvt. sector retirement age passed in Parliament

Minimum Retirement Age of Workers Bill has been passed in parliament with amendments.
 
The Bill was presented by Minister of Labour - Nimal Siripala de Silva and was passed with amendments at the third reading.

Meanwhile, the Termination of Employment of Workmen (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill was also passed with no amendments.

Both Bills are aimed at extending the retirement age of private sector employees to 60 years.
