He was responding to a query raised at the Cabinet briefing held today (22).
"What i personally feel is, Mr. Ranjan Ramanayake committed a wrongdoing. However, he received a punishment for that as well. He, who was elected to parliament with nearly 150,000 votes, lost his MP seat. That is one of the severest punishments a citizen could receive. I personally feel two punishments are too harsh," he said.
I would also like to responsibly state that neither the leader of the state nor the government perceive Mr. Ramanayake in a malicious manner.
