Law enforced against Mahindananda, but not against Namal Featured

The political deal between the Rajapaksas and certain powerful figures in the present government is a certainty, given that the law is enforced against Mahindananda Aluthgamage, but not against Namal Rajapaksa both of whom are facing similar levels of accusations, political sources say.

The Attorney General’s Department is yet to instruct the FCID with regard to the Rs. 70 million Krrish deal case against Namal although it has been given the extracts a long time ago.

The Department needs to be continually reminded of its job with regard to the cases against the Rajapaksas, but it has already filed indictments against Aluthgamage on a charge of defrauding Rs. 1.2 million from the Sri Lanka Independent Estate Labourers Congress fund.

The reason

Furthermore, there is clear evidence in connection with the instances of corruption committed by the Rajapaksa family, but court cases have so far been filed against their allies Aluthgamage and Udaya Gammanpila only, the sources say.

However, Aluthgamage himself is to be blamed for that, because it is him who has been leveling ‘top 10’ accusations against the prime minister’s closes associates, including Malik Samarawickrama, Ravi Karunanayake, R. Paskaralingam, and Charitha Ratwatte, without criticizing the president, on the instructions of Mahinda Rajapaksa.

There is an evident delay in bringing to book those who do the Rajapaksas’ bidding and criticize the SLFP, such as Johnston Fernando, Prasanna Ranatunga and Gamini Senarath, add the sources.
