Ada Derana reports that ambulances, water bowsers and double cabs are among these vehicles, slated for essential services.

These vehicles are in lieu of the letters of  credit opened for luxury vehicles earlier.
 
50 Toyota Hiace ambulances, 52 Hino water bowsers, 62 Toyota Hilux Double Cabs are to be imported.

Previously it was reported that letters of credit were opened to import 227 Land Cruiser Prados, two Land Cruiser V8s, and that these letters cannot be canceled. A cabinet paper too was filed at the time and the vehicle imports were costed at Rs. 3.7 Bn.
