40,000 over 60s in Colombo yet to be vaccinated

Around 40,000 over the age of 60 years in Colombo are yet to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, according to Chairman of State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Dr. Prasanna Gunasena.

This is due to myths and unwarranted fears circulating among the general public about the vaccines.

Dr. Gunasena was speaking during a programme at the Government Information Department yesterday (09).

Meanwhile, Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva has stated earlier that the Government had discussions to declare the vaccination card compulsory and that measures are under way, with the assistance of Grama Sevakas etc., to encourage those who have not received the vaccine to go for it.
