07 arrested in X-Press Pearl ship incident, released on bail (Update)

(Update) - Seven members of the local agency arrested in connection with the X-Press Pearl incident have been released on bail.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested seven members of the Express Pearl ship's local agency C Consortium Lanka Pvt.

The chairman of the local agency was arrested in connection with the incident and was released on bail on 16 June after being produced in court.

Seven members of X-Press Pearl’s local agency arrested

Seven members from the local shipping agency which represents the fire-wrecked cargo ship MV X-Press Pearl have been taken into custody.

These suspects, arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), will be produced before the court later.
