Patient infected with COVID-19 Delta variant found from Kahathuduwa

A person infected with the Delta variant of COVID-19 has been detected from the Jayaligama area in Kahathuduwa, reports say.

'Lankadeepa' has cited Kahathuduwa Medical Officer of Health Dr. Dhanuka Padmaraja as saying that this would increase the number of cases infected with the Delta variant to 08.

The 47-year old patient is mason working at a leading construction company in Slave Island and he has been admitted to a COVID-19 treatment centre in Polonnaruwa.

The mother, wife and son of the patient are being quarantined.

Dr. Padmaraja has said that as a precautionary measure, the lane where he lived has been temporarily closed down and measures are being taken to contact 100 random PCR tests.
