Five deaths were confirmed in the Kegalle District while three and three more deaths were reported from the Ratnapura and Gampaha Districts respectively. In addition, the districts of Puttalam, Colombo, Kalutara and Galle Districts report one death each.
According to the Disaster Management Centre, 245,212 persons of 60,674 families have been affected due to the adverse weather conditions after the weather has affected Gampaha, Ratnapura, Colombo, Puttalam, Kalutara, Nuwara-Eliya, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Galle and Kandy Districts.
The DMC added 14 houses have been destroyed while 817 others have been damaged due to heavy rains, gusty winds and landslides.
Meanwhile landslide warnings issued in the Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Ratnapura Districts has been extended till 5:30pm today.
