The event, held at Shangri-la hotel, splashed headlines after Chandimal and model - Piumi Hansamali were arrested and produced before courts for flouting quarantine laws. The event was held despite island-wide travel restrictions being in place in the wake of COVID-19.
The nine persons informed by the police are residents of Badulla, Kalutara South, Ja-Ela and Minuwangoda.
The names are :1. Pattiyage Piumi Hansamali Gomes (Rajagiriya)2. Mohottige Dharshani Pushpamali Konawila (Badulla)3. Rathnayaka Mudiyanselage Rukmal Basnayaka (Badulla)4. Kumaralage Bageshwari Madushika Gunasekara (Rajagiriya)5. A.D. Pradeep Lakmal Deshapriya (Minuwangoda)
6. D. Liyanage Chamal Susantha (Pannala)7. Kankanamge Chathuranga (Kalutara South)8. A. Kumarage Devaka (Rajagiriya)9. Tharindu Pethum (Ja-Ela)
These persons had reportedly fled from the hotel when police had arrived. Although Chandimal was apprehended, he was later released after being questioned, reports say.
Afterwards, the Fort Police had phoned Chandimal and Piumi, summoning them to the police station and were subsequently produced before the courts, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns.
