Appoint a single spokesman for COVID-19 - JVP

The JVP has urged the government to appoint a single spokesman to accurately communicate developments of the COVID-19 wave to the public.
Speaking at a media briefing at the party HQ today (03) former MP Bimal Ratnayake said contradictory statements by government representatives have resulted in  confusing situations.

MP Rathnayake said a minimum of six individuals - the Army Commander, the President’s Media Division, the Minister of Health, the Director General of Health Services, State Minister Channa Jayasumana and the State Minister of Primary Health Services, Pandemics and COVID Prevention - Sudarshini Fernandopulle all release statements on the same topic with varying opinions.

'To be honest, this has become a confusing mess. Therefore, we urge the government to appoint a sole spokesperson at least for this 3rd wave,' he added.
