Govt. now looks at alternatives to get vaccines as India in turmoil Featured

As the hopes of getting COVID-19 vaccines from India are fading away, Sri Lankan health authorities seem to have now turned to other alternative measures.
The measures include obtaining 2.7 million doses of Sputnik vaccine from RUssia of which the first set is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka next week.
Secondly, the government is looking at ways of buying the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from countries such as the UK, USA and Australia.
The government is also anxiously awaiting the WHO approval for the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine. Once the WHO approval is granted, it will be given to the public, according to Prof. Channa Jayasuma, the state minister of pharmaceutical production, supply and regulation.
