Harin will not be arrested until 14 July; AG tells SC

The Attorney General has informed the Supreme Court that Parliamentarian Harin Fernando will not be arrested until the 14th of July in relation to on-going investigations over Easter Sunday attacks.

MP Harin Fernando filed a fundamental rights petition yesterday, seeking an order to prevent the Criminal Investigations Department from arresting him.

Accordingly, appearing on behalf of the Attorney General, Senior Additional Solicitor General Priyantha Nawana today informed the Supreme Court bench that MP Fernando will not be apprehended in relation to the incident until the next court hearing.

The case was taken up before today before the bench comprising of Justices S Thurairaja, Kumuduni Wickremasinghe and Mahinda Samayawardhena.
