4500 riders nabbed for traffic offences

Legal actions have been taken against 4500 motor-bike riders during a 24-hour operation conducted by police in a bid to reduce the accidents related to motor-bikes.

Among the offences committed by the riders are riding under the influence of liquor, riding without helmets and violating motor traffic rules.

Police say the operation aims to safeguard the lives of riders as at least five motorbike riders are killed daily.
