Asgiri and Getambe Theros rebuke govt. Featured

Two prominent Buddhist monks in Kandy have said that the present government had created burning issues in the country.

They had made these remarks when they had met former president - Maithripala Sirisena in Kandy yesterday (30).

Lekadikari (Secretary) Thera of Asgiriya Chapter - Ven. Medagama Dhammananda Thera and Chief Incumbent of the Getambe Rajopavanaramaya - Ven. Keppetiyagoda Sirivimala Thera have severely criticised the present regime in this manner.

Noting that the country feels the impact of the extensive environment done in Mr. Sirisena's absence, Ven. Dhammananda Thero has also urged the former President to stand up against dual citizens holding any office and running for elections.

"You should not dance to the tunes of the government. The government should be made to heed your advice... Otherwise, a massive destruction will be unavoidable... In the past, we did not rebuke you. We only gave you advice. Do not misunderstand," Ven. Sirivimala Thera had said.

The Thera had also stated that SLPPers had made themselves scarce after the elections.

SIS posing as journalists?

Meanwhile, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that journalists had flocked near the hotel in Matale, where the former President was staying and they had done so until around midnight yesterday (30).

It is said that the General Secretary of the SLFP - Dayasiri Jayasekara had to take extra efforts to pacify and to turn them back.

'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that several such persons posing as journalists were actually personnel linked to the State Intelligence Service.
