President sets up commission to probe war-time atrocities

Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena says president Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed a commission to look into the alleged injustices or harassments during the Sri Lanka's war period.Minister Gunawardena made these remarks at the parliament.

He said if Sri Lanka's army had deliberately killed anyone during the fighting with  the LTTE, such incidents could be complained to this commission.

He also noted that the commission would be able to probe the missing people unless they do not reside in the United Kingdom.

The Minister said the UK has so far not given any information on the people who fled Sri Lanka and now live in Britain.
