7,840 enjoyed 'Park and Ride' service in a week ^Featured

7,840 passengers have taken the 'Park and Ride' service during the first week since its inauguration, generating a revenue of Rs. 457,990, the Sri Lanka Transport Board says.

It says that the highest income was generated on Jan. 26, with 1,146 passengers taking the service.

Only luxury buses are used to carry passengers according to the number of seats. The fare is double the normal bus fare. The program includes a limited number of stops, short travel time to destinations, polite, friendly and attractive transportation service, daily follow-up with technology and two types of Clock Wise and Anti Clock Wise trips.

Passengers can park their car in the multi-center garage free of charge. Parking space is expected to be expanded to take into account the progress of the program. Buses run every 15 minutes from 06.00 am to 08.00 am and from 04.00 pm to 09.00 pm. Buses run every 25 minutes between 08.00 am and 04.00 pm. There are 64 trips a day.
