Speaking at the 'Matara Hamuwa' event held in Matara today (20), he said, “The majority of the people in the country wanted to form a solely Sinhala-Buddhist government. And they ensured a highest victory for that. But the failure of that ideological vision has been clearly proven during a period of a year."
The meeting was organized by former Mayor of Matara and UNP organiser of the Matara electorate - Upul Nishantha.
Speaking further, Mr. Samaraweera said that this country needs the United National Party which is now rebuilding from scratch.
