Galle situ, deteriorating - Manusha
However, MP Manusha Nanayakkara has urged the government to give immediate attention to the rapid spread of Covid-19 in the Galle District.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, he claimed that some areas have been locked down without authorisation from health authorities, and movement restrictions are maintained in certain areas despite not recording any cases.
On the contrary, in other areas, lockdowns are not being imposed despite recording positive cases, he added.
Charging that local authorities of taking arbitrary decisions, he called for immediate government intervention.
Large hospitals to be converted into Covid-19 centres
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health today announced that they will take over hospitals that can provide treatment and facilities to a large number of people and transform those into Covid-19 treatment facilities immediately.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the decision was taken during an action committee meeting chaired by Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi today.
The Committee also discussed the need to allocate funds from the Ministry of Health for the construction of new centers and to obtain additional funding from the World Bank and the Asian Development Board.
