The UNP secured a national list seat during the recently concluded Parliamentary Election.

However, the post has not been filled thus far.

Speaking to NewsRadio, Acting UNP General Secretary Shamal Senarath said members of the UNP decided that party Leader former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe must enter Parliament through the National List.

He said the UNP Leader has not responded positively to the request thus far.

Shamal Senarath noted that the party is of the view that the vacant national seat must be filled promptly.

He also noted that UNP seniors are making changes through appointments and also formulating a new agenda for the party’s future programme.
