Expect less private buses despite no curfew

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association says only a limited number of private buses will operate today despite the lifting of curfew.

Chairman of the Association Gemunu Wijeratne said the operation of buses in the current climate poses an unnecessary safety risk when curfew is lifted.

Gemunu Wijeratne said Police have informed him that 22 Police areas will remain under isolation, while buses in these areas cannot operate.

He requested the Ministry of Transport to implement necessary safety measures.

Wijeratne also said bus operators cannot request drivers to refrain from engaging in operations as they need a source of income.
