Army Commander and head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) - Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said thus in a special statement before the media a short while ago.
He also noted that curfew will be similarly extended in the Eheliyagoda police area of Rathnapura district as well as in the Kuliyapitiya police area and Kurunegala Municipal Council area.
The decision has been taken after considering the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country.
He also urged the public to remain in their homes and not to cross district borders unless it is absolutely necessary and stated that the government is providing dry rations to civilians who are quarantined in their homes.
The Army commander also noted that the home delivery system which was in place during the first wave, will be back with effect from tomorrow.
