Repairman from China to fix broken PCR machine!

It is reported that a Chinese representative is to visit the Mulleriyawa Hospital today (30) to repair the malfunctioned  PCR machine, reports say.

Chief of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) - Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva has told media that the visit is being made over interventions on a diplomatic level.

Following the breakdown, local technicians had failed to repair the machine. Therefore, it was decided to bring down in a representative of the Chinese company that had exported the machine to Sri Lanka.

Due to the breakdown, there has been a three-day backlog of PCR results, he added.

The President was also informed of this and had instructed officials to devise a methodology which would enable to obtain reports as soon as possible.

Earlier, media reports claimed that releasing reports of  nearly 20,000 test samples had become a problem due to the malfunctioning.
