Two persons in the house and a one and a half month old infant have been rescued while efforts are underway to rescue a couple trapped under rubble.

Police said the building had caved in and collapsed onto a house next door.

Police initially rescued two women who were trapped under the debris.

The Kandy Police said rescuing the couple inside the house seems to be a complex task.

Area residents have joined in rescue efforts led by Police and Disaster Management teams.
