45 types of substandard drugs scrapped

The Medical Supplies Division says that 45 substandard medicines and surgical materials that were distributed to government hospitals during the past 08 months of this year have been scrapped.

They emphasize that 27 out of the 45 types of drugs and surgical materials were scrapped in January, February and June.

Paracetamol tablets, Benzathine penicillin injections, Vancomycin injections, Calcium Gluconate, Cyclosporine oral capsules, cefalexin oral administration, Dextrose solution and Warfarin are among the removed substandard drugs.

The circulars issued by the Medical Supplies Division to government hospitals and provincial health authorities requesting the removal of substandard drugs are due to partial discoloration and packaging issues.
