The Department of Meteorology predicts that showers will continue today (02) due to the low-level atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.

Heavy rainfall above 100mm is likely at some places. while strong winds of up to 70-80kmph can be expected during showers.

The sea areas extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, Matara and Hambantota can be rough at times.

The public has been requested to take precautions to minimize damages that could be caused as a result of lightning.

Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organisation has issued a landslide warning for four districts.

The warning was issued for several Divisional Secretariats in the Galle, Kalutara, Kegalle and Ratnapura Districts with effect from midnight yesterday.
