Deputy Solicitor General Dileep Peiris stated this to the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne when the case pertaining to the large scale heroin trafficking by a group of officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau was taken up yesterday (31).
He further stated that some phone calls between the duo had been quite lengthy.
Red, blue notices on 13 underworld members
Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne stated that red warrants have been issued to arrest 12 notorious underworld members who are currently in hiding overseas.
These underworld criminals are Gamage Suranga alias 'Welle Suranga', Paranamanage Chaminda alias 'Kalu Sagara', Surasinghe Arachchige Gihan Fonseka, Somu Suppiah alias 'Yogu', Kennedy Fernando (Bumma), Sinhara Amal Saminda Silva (Anju / Kudu Anju), Rajapaksa Arachchige Dinuka Madushan, Nallaperuma Thanthrige Danuka Roshan (Keselwatte Dinuka), Ellawala Liyanage Dharmasiri Perera (Dharme), Jagamuni Sujeewa de Zoysa (Kosgoda Suji / Podi Suji), Madduma Lasantha Chandana Perera (Angoda Lokka) and Balachandra Pushparaj (Pukudu Kanna).
In addition, a blue notice has been issued for Selvaraj Dhaneshan (Dhaneshan).
It is singular that the names include 'Angoda Lokka' who were confirmed dead by the Coimbatore police.
Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon had ordered all OICs to take legal action against these notorious underworld gangsters.
In addition, police say that red notices were previously issued on large scale drug traffickers such as Mohammad Sahabdeen, Sardar Mohammad Azad Khan, Pathirannahelage Nimal Pathmasiri alias Nimal Perera, Jayasinghe Arachchige Sujith Nishantha alias Ajith Nishantha, Suji, Gorakannage Ajantha Osman Silva and Arungaro Behula.
