20 million demanded for Telephone candidature

Former MP Mayilvaganam Tilakarajah says that the leader of the National Union of Workers (NUW) Palani Digambaran has demanded Rs.20 million if he wish to obtain the candidature from Samagi Jana Balawegaya for the General Election.

He has revealed that Digambaran said he could not be given the opportunity to contest this time and asked him to join the National List.

He also says that he who went to parliament from the UNP in the last general election, was not given the candidature this time saying that he did not have the money to contest.

He also alleges that three parliamentarians who contested from the party, including Rishad Bathiudeen, did not vote for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Mylvaganam represented the National List of Samagi Jana Balawegaya this time and he was elected to Parliament in the 2015 General Election representing the United National Party (UNP) with 67,761 votes in the Nuwara Eliya District.
