'Drug smuggling cat' found unharmed

'Drug smuggling cat' found in Welikada Magazine prison with heroin and phone equipment tied around its neck, remains unharmed in the prison premises,  Prisons Commissioner (operations) Chandana Ekanayaka has confirmed.

The cat splashed headlines on an international level after a local newspaper reported that it has 'escaped from prison'.

Mr. Ekanayake added that special investigations had commenced to find those who deployed the cat as a carrier of contraband into the prison.
