A child abused every 2 hours!

A child is abused in Sri Lanka every two hours, Police say.

Noting that some cases go unreported, the police adds that 70% of child abusers are a close relation or associate of the victim.

The public can report any case of child abuse to 1929.

Meanwhile, the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court yesterday (26) ordered a teacher to be remanded until August 05 for abusing a group of boys.

The suspect was produced before the court yesterday.

Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority Professor Muditha Vidanapathirana said that the victims have been produced for medical tests.
