One-day NIC service to resume on June 22

The one-day service to issue National Identity Cards (NIC) will begin on June 22 under certain restrictions, the department of registration of persons said.

A maximum of 250 NIC’s will be issued daily at the department’s head office in Battaramulla, while the Southern regional office in Galle will issue 50 NIC’s.

Citizens seeking to apply for the NIC’s must handover an application certified by the Grama Niladhari officer, to the NIC Unit at their respective divisional secretariats.

A reservation number must be obtained from the divisional secretariat within 10 working days of obtaining the application, the department noted.

It added that the public can visited the office of the department of registration of persons based on their reserved date.
