FSP files complaint with HRCSL

The Frontline Socialists Party today (12) filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) with regard to the situation which transpired during two protests staged in Colombo early this week.

Noting that the protestors followed all necessary health guidelines, FSP Propaganda Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda accused Sri Lanka Police of violating the quarantine law and assaulting the protestors.

He slammed the Joint Cabinet Spokesperson for saying the President had instructed for all those who staged protests to be quarantined.

The FSP said it is the health authority that would decide if a person or group should be quarantined and it is not something which can be decided by the President, or the government.

Pubudu Jayagoda warned the Quarantine Law is being used as a tool for suppression.
