An epidemic cannot be tackled like a war Featured

Deputy Secretary of the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) - Dr. Naveen Soyza says that a global epidemic cannot be controlled in the same way a war is tackled.

He was speaking at a press conference held yesterday (19).

Dr. Soyza further stated that the Neville Fernando Hospital in Malabe can be converted into a quarantine center of a hospital to treat Covid-19 patients. 

Since the government is already paying for the hospital, the prevailing laws allow the hospital to be converted into a quarantine centre, he added.

45% of Covid-19 infected, aged 41-50yrs.

More than 45% of the confirmed cases in Sri Lanka are aged between 41 - 50 years, says Director General of Health Services - Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

He also said that the Colombo Eye Hospital will provide only essential services.
