Mr. Seneviratne has lodged a complaint with the Kotahena police on this regard.
Major General Boniface Perera has threatened Mr. Seneviratne over the phone, stating that he was mentioned in a defamatory manner in a gossip column published on the 'Irida Divaina' issue of Jan. 29.
The Maj. General has further said that he is well informed of Mr. Seneviratne's whereabouts and had threatened not only to kill him but also to destroy his entire family.
Following the publication of the article, the Maj. General had even sent along several Buddhist monks to the 'Divaina' office to meet Mr. Seneviratne on this regard, reports further say.
Major General Boniface Perera is one of the contenders vying for the post of the Army commander in the future.
Meanwhile, speaking to ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’, chairman of the Professional Web Journalists Association (PWJA) - Freddy Gamage said that he expects the President’s attention over the matter, as the President recently said that his being a one-time regional correspondent once made him to be one of the journalist fraternity.
