SLFP-SLPP alliance rejects nominations for people with criminal charges Featured

General Secretary of Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Alliance Basil Rajapaksa says that the nomination board of the party, appointed by the leaders of the parties affiliated to the alliance, will decide on the candidates who will contest the general election from the alliance.

It is said that in addition to the disqualification of candidature in the 19th Amendment, it has been decided not to give nomination to those who are with criminal charges.

Party leaders attached to the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Alliance met Basil Rajapaksa last week and discussed regarding the districts those parties will contest.

No candidates for Jaffna and Batticaloa

It has been reported that discussions are underway with the district leaders of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) regarding the districts to contest.

However, it has been decided to contest the next general election in all districts except Jaffna and Batticaloa.

It is said that attention has been directed toward contesting the two districts under the alliance using a common logo.
