Basil Rajapaksa said this at a special meeting held at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Headquarters in Nelum Mawatha Colombo.
The SLPP National Organizer said that the president who had retired had to wait several months for his pension file to be made and he received his pension only after 2 ½ years.
“Therefore, be it due to political revenge or any other personal matter, every state sector employee who retires from service should have their pensions paid to them the very next month. Otherwise how can they live if they don’t receive their pension? Therefore, the President assured that he would instruct the relevant authorities to implement a system where a retiring state sector employee receives his pension the very next month after retiring. If there are any discrepancies in the payments etc it could be rectified thereafter.”
