DIG battle to intensify in March Featured

According to police sources, three senior Senior Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) are contesting for the post of Inspector General of Police (IGP), which will be vacant following the retirement of IGP Pujith Jayasundara,who has been currently sent on compulsory leave.

Pujith Jayasundara will turn sixty years of age on March 15.

Accordingly, Senior DIG Chandana Wickremaratne, who has served as the acting IGP so far, is first in line in the seniority order.

Next is Senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe, who is currently under suspension and Senior DIGs Abeysiri Gunawardena, Nandana Munasinghe, Frank Fernando, Ravi Wijegunawardena, Roshan Fernando, Nilantha Jayawardena,Lalith Pathinayaka and Deshabandu Thennakoon are next in line according to the seniority order.
